Why are we stopping SMS authentication?
It is widely recognised within the cybersecurity industry that SMS authentication is vulnerable to fraud and abuse. For this reason, we have decided to phase out this authentication method.
The Digidentity Wallet app as your alternative
As an alternative, you can use the Digidentity Wallet app. The app acts as a secure authenticator and is protected by a personal 5-digit PIN code. The Wallet app provides a higher level of security than SMS authentication.
What do you need to do before 1 October 2026?
If you currently use SMS authentication, we strongly recommend installing and activating the Digidentity Wallet app as soon as possible. SMS authentication will be permanently disabled on 1 October 2026.
