City of Rotterdam automates eHerkenning with the Business Wallet

By Digidentity

For a large organisation like the City of Rotterdam, access to digital government services (such as the UWV and the Tax Administration) is essential. Managing these eHerkenning permissions for hundreds of civil servants was previously a massive administrative burden: every request, change, or cancellation had to be processed manually.

In collaboration with Digidentity, the City has now achieved a significant leap in efficiency by introducing the Business Wallet.

Use Case Rotterdam

Secure, scalable, and fully automated

Manual registrations are a thing of the past. By integrating the Business Wallet directly with existing HR and IAM systems via a SCIM connection, permission management is now fully automated. This ensures a process that is not only faster but also compliant and less prone to error.

The practical benefits:

  • Onboarding: New employees receive the correct permissions immediately on their first day of work.
  • Job Changes: If someone changes roles, their permissions are automatically adjusted.
  • Offboarding: Upon departure, access is immediately and securely revoked.

With this innovation, the City of Rotterdam reduces the workload while significantly increasing digital security.
